The client was carrying out preparatory work for the construction of an industrial facility. One of the main stages of this work was the pouring of a monolithic strip foundation for a fence with a total length of 1,200 m.

Before contacting Budhub, the construction crew had already begun work using construction plywood and wooden beams. However, installing a single 50-meter section took 4–6 workdays—a pace that made it impossible to complete the entire project within a reasonable timeframe.

The client contacted us with a request to calculate and provide the optimal amount of formwork for pouring the fence foundation so that all concrete work could be completed within one calendar month. The requirement was for the fastest possible installation and dismantling cycle—avoiding manual labor wherever machinery could be used.

Challenges

The slow pace of work, given the large scale of the project (1,200 m of strip foundation). The initial manual method of erecting formwork using plywood and wooden beams allowed for only 50 m to be poured every 4–6 days. At that pace, it was physically impossible to meet the one-month deadline. The main challenge was to accelerate the process (by more than five times), which required a complete overhaul of the concrete pouring technology and a transition to high-speed industrial systems.

Calculating the Optimal Amount of Formwork

Based on the engineering department’s calculations, the most effective solution was to use 70 running meters of formwork simultaneously—this amount ensured the required pouring rate within a single month.

Heavy-duty framed formwork for mechanized installation

Instead of manual assembly using plywood and lumber, the heavy-duty framed formwork series was chosen, which allowed the entire set to be assembled and disassembled using heavy construction equipment—an excavator and a telescopic loader. As a result, the crew was able to install and remove the entire 70-meter set in a single workday and pour concrete up to 6 times a week.

Thanks to the transition from manual assembly using plywood to a heavy-duty formwork system, the pace of work has increased dramatically: assembly and disassembly of the entire 70-meter— can now be completed in a single workday, with up to 6 pours per week instead of a single pour taking 4–6 days. The entire 1,200-meter-long fence foundation was completed on schedule—within one calendar month. The project demonstrates how the right choice of formwork system can significantly reduce construction time without requiring additional labor resources.
