The inside corner of a column is a key component of steel formwork, forming one “half” of the future column formwork. The accuracy of its assembly determines the correct geometry of the structure and the ease of subsequent formwork assembly.

Required items and tools
Before you begin, make sure you have everything you need:
- 2 steel column formwork panels
- trestles or a mounting stand
- bolts and tie nuts (at least 4 per corner)
- installation tool (wrench or pipe)
- hammer (if needed, for removing corks)
- work gloves
Key components for installing a column corner
Step 1. Preparing the work area and installing the second panel
- Place the panel horizontally, with the plywood side facing up.
- Be sure to place trestles or mounting stands under the shield—this will ensure it is at a comfortable working height.
- Place the second shield perpendicular to the first—with its end facing the edge of the first.
- Align the panels so that the joints of the frames line up at the connection point.
Step 2. Preparing the holes
- Before connecting, it is important to check that there are no plugs in the holes.
- If there are any, remove them with a hammer or a pry bar. This is necessary to ensure that the panels fit tightly together.
Step 3. Connecting the panels
- Align the holes in the two panels.
- Insert the bolts and tighten the tie nuts using a wrench or a pipe wrench.
Make sure all fasteners are securely tightened.
After completing these steps, we end up with an L-shaped structure—this is half of the future column formwork. We assemble the other half using the same method.
